Can anybody please direct me to a place where I can purchase Oxy Aceteleyne tanks? I am not a pro but a DIY beginner who wants to learn how to use this. I am eyeing the smallest one I could get wherein I can fit Harris Gauges.

I also have a bernz - o - matic portable propane/oxygen torch. the cylinders already run out of fuel and I don't know where to refill them if it is possible to refill them locally.

Thanks,

You can get the tanks from the gas supplier. This reminds me that my oxygen has run out. Last time I refilled was ... I don't remember. Anyone know the current prices?

Gas suppliers wanted an average of 4,500 pesos deposit per tank, that is the standard size for oygen and acetelyne. Refundable when I decide to return the tanks. Looks like I will have problems finding the smaller tanks.

Oygen refill is somewhere in the 380 pesos range while acetelyne is 670+.

Thanks JayL. The refill is quite affordable. I seldom use my set so the tank has lasted at least 2 years .. maybe 3. P4500 for an acetylene tank is not too bad ... but right now I guess arc welding will do. Aside from using the oxygen for our steel cannon during New Year, I only use the set for cutting work for which I just use our stove's LPG.

Congratulations Jay. You should ask them what will cause the supplier not to accept a tank back and avoid those things happening. In know this because a relative once gave me his oxygen tank but later I found out I could not have it refilled because it was rusted too much, according to the gas vendor. I'm assuming they won't accept the tank back and could be wrong but there is no harm in asking.

@Timber

I chose a dealer in Makati. Alvimco Co. Inc. for the simple reason that they promised to give me new tanks and that they are just 10 min ride away from me. Anyway I can always return the tanks later and go with another dealer in case I'm not happy with their equipment or service.

I called or visited most of the gas dealers before I made the decision , Sugeco among them.

You in Binondo area on Monday? Planning to get a Koken 24" breaker bar probably from LYS and hopefully collect the VGs from you. Sometimes I wished you were still working with Snap On .... hahahaha

I will be around, got an order I got a deadline for, don't think I can be of much assistance though. but do let me know when you're near for the VG's. before you buy, I suggest you check a small store near Panda. not sure but the might be the supplier of KOKEN.

I too wanted these tanks before but could not find a set locally. I am also not sure if these will be refilled by the Gas Dealers in case I purchase from the States. None the less if they do it will be expensive or at least the same price they charge for the big bottles.

One other thing. Contents does not last that long due to the smaller tanks. In the end I dropped the idea. Unless I have a very specific purpose then I won't be considering this setup again.

Glad you're getting busy again on projects. If it's woodwork pls try to snap some pics for future posting.

I just checked with them. JYL Enterprises. They have the Koken breaker bar and is much cheaper at 200 pesos less but stocks are still in pier. I'm not in a hurry and could wait the 3 days time for it to arrive.

Thanks for the tip.
