hi guys! this is my first time post in the forum. i really appreciate the inputs na nakukuha ko dito. philippine setting kasi kaya mas madali maka-relate ika nga.

anyway, i recently moved back in to my parents' house. undertook minor repairs and wanted to get inputs from the forum:

1. roof paint - unpainted yun roof ng house (approx 20+ years old) kaya medyo significant yun rust (although surface rust lang; underside is still intact and no rust whatsoever). i dont want to replace with the newer gauge 26 corrugated sheets dahil matibay pa yun luma (standard gauge 24; makapal talaga at pwede pa lakaran ng d ka nagwo-worry na mabutas). am thinking of painting it. questions are:

1.a. how do i treat the surface rust prior to painting or kailangan pa ba? if kailangan, is it ok to use turco rust converter?
1.b. kelangan pa ba primer before paint?

2. concrete floors - had the kitchen floor re-surfaced (added around 2 inches to the thickness. nilagyan dati ng linoleum kaya lang am thinking of leaving it bare concrete. questions are:

2.a. if i go with bare concrete, pwede ba ito patungan ng varnish para lumabas na laminated/glossy? tama ba na varnish (polyurethane?) ang gamitin or is there some other product to use to achieve the laminated/glossy look?

turco is good in removing rust, but it makes your roof a bit thinner, if you're going to use it, apply immediately primer paint coz the next day may rust kaagad. concrete floors, i suggest use the paint that they use like in gasoline stations if you notice that, kahit oil stains ang gease di gaano kumakapit

For rusted GI sheets, first remove loose rust with the aid of a steel brush. Next, apply rust converter, be sure to wash off with water the white crystaline deposits after converting. Apply primer, preferably red lead primer. Roof paints like roofgard and roof master is your last step.

With regards to your flooring it is best to use epoxy based/ rubberized paint for its non slip characteristics. If you want to achieve the clear and glossy look then a Clear Polyeurethane floor varnish is all you need. HTH!
