I'm investigating the possibilities for concrete flooring systems for a residential dwelling.

Now back in UK (my original country), we tended to use prestressed concrete inverted-T Beams, with concrete blocks placed in the gaps and then a sand/cement floor screed on top.

But all my web searches come back with zero info for suppliers in Philippines.

I do want a concrete solution for the floors (both ground floor and first floor), and I'm looking at clear spans no wider than about 5 meters ... do you think I can get away with simple reinforced concrete floors over this span, or do I really need a prestressed solution ?

Thanks

Dave

5 meters is not that long a span, traditional reinforced concrete beams and slabs would be just fine.

prestressed concrete inverted-T Beams is popular in other countries its not really that advisable here due to, its much more cheaper to use a reinforced steel bars using 12mm deformed bars..

its done in other countries to make construction work much faster because labor there is expensive unlike here which is cheap..

5meter span is not that long steelbars can reach upto 9meters by order its all in the design of a civil engineer for you have it done...
