Hello all,

I could use some help. This is my current TV rack.

I like it, and it matches all the other furniture in the room. However, the problem is the Samsung 40" I'm going to buy doesn't fit in the hole. Plus it weighs a ton, so moving it, let alone getting it out the door isn't going to happen. So the only possible solution I can think of is making a false wall and have it wall mounted. kinda like this:

Note there's like a black screen cloth, like the screen on speakers, that covers the center speaker above the TV.

In addition, I'd like it to have a swivel mount like this

What do you guys think? Does Anybody know where I can go to have this mod done? Or maybe someone who can do onsite work? I need the false wall to match the color. Or maybe I can DIY all this. Anyone know where to get the speaker screen cloth?

You could most certainly DIY the false wall. I suggest a couple of 2x4 where you will attach the swivel mount. Make sure the 2x4s are very well attached. I'd also put small pieces at the top and bottom of the 2x4s that would serve as stoppers to the 2x4s. The swivel bracket I strongly suggest you buy because it is quite a complicated thing which would be difficult to make well.

There are brackets like that available at Abenson/Avant but I find the prices too much for a few pieces of steel that only swivel your LCD a short distance from the wall:mad:. So I use a circa 1990s folding computer arm with platform that I got from a video editor friend (who was actually still using it when I got it!!). It was designed to carry up to 17 in CRT and keyboard. Now I can swivel and pull in my 22in LCD TV to face my bed when I lie down or my desk when I'm working.
The keyboard holder bar will be converted to accommodate a PS3
