View Full Version : Wireless Cable TV Transmitter/Receiver

Hi,

There is an area in my house where I want to place a TV set. Unfortunately, I do not have a cable TV outlet there. I want to avoid the hassle of drilling holes on the wall or having long cables from my existing cable TV outlet to the area where I wanted it installed. So, I was thinking if there is an existing device that I can use to transmit the signal from my cable TV outlet to another place in my house wirelessly.

If this thing I have in mind exists, please tell me where can I buy one.

The RF-Link AVS-5811 5.8GHz A/ V Transmission System with IR Repeater is only a single channel audio/video sender. I think you are looking for a system that will re-transmit all the available channels of your cable service. Technically it is feasible but expensive. It's an industrial grade unit called CARS (community Antenna Relay System) that runs on infra-red or RF signals. These are used by cable companies to link communities or buildings. It is also illegal to use without the approval of the service provider and a license from NTC.

It's more practical to lay out cables and use cheap RF splitters. Just remember to use the right cable (RG-6) and Connectors (F-Type) to avoid signal loss.

Use moldings mounted on kick boards to hide the wires.

i am now considering indoor antenna with singnal booster of some kind. I cannot lay out cables on our wall because it would be very long and would not appear nice even with moldings. I'm sure my wife won't agree with that. :)

can you recommend a certain brand and model of an indoor antenna that will really work?

i guess i also need to open another thread so it won't be out of topic.
