Adopting CDI ignition for outboard motor

My brother unearthed an old outboard engine with the brand Scott Atwater. It is missing its ignition system. Can I adopt an old CDI from a motorbike, grasscutter or whatever to run the engine?

This is not exactly on-topic but I was wondering why not just rebuild the magneto?

Problem is, the magneto was missing when we got the motor.

I was repairing our grasscutter over the weekend and it has a magneto. The thing is very simple. Maybe it would not be that hard to adopt one sufficiently close in dimensions.
