We disposed of our giant aquarium. Its base was made of steel that despite being epoxy paint coated still rusted (it was a saltwater aquarium). The cermain tiles are the "cheap" kind I think.

Is there hope?

Kindly try phosporic acid. This was discussed in previous thread under hard water stain remover. Hope this will help.

Thanks Mangver. Aren't there any cleaning products with phosphoric acid? Actually, I'm familiar with BE Supplies, bought a couple of things there myself, but I seldom go there nowadays and it is a bit out of my way.

Turco also crossed my mind, I keep a small stock of this, however I think the rust has probably seeped into the tiles. I guess I'll try it on a small spot first.

You could try using muriatic acid which is readily available in supermarkets.

I checked the MSDS of Turco from the net, yes the active ingredient is phosporic acid

You can also try Turbo Rust Remover. I think it's available in Handyman.
