;)
I am currently installing a burglar alarm system and I want to know where can I find Laser sensors that will trigger once beam is cut. Also, since my house is full of glass doors and windows, May I know from the techies, wher can I buy breaking glass sensors.

I haven't seen a laser equipped burglar alarm locally... most of them are infrared based.

meron mga glass break alarm sensors na taiwan made, fairly cheap lang just attach to the glass and oks na.
meron din mga motion sensor alarms which you can still to high walls or ceilings, once may dumaan tutunog ng sobrang annoying ehehehe, it is controlled by a remote control included in the unit.

Our office uses a combination of motion sensors and infrared alarms.
I installed a burglar alarm system in my house.

may i ask sir how much did it cost you and where is Rover located? thanks...
more or less 28K ginastos ko 2 years ago. 2 motion detectors 4door/window sensors, 1 control panel and 2 remote controls.

I mean effective ba?
May logo syang Aso.

Hi, Im interested in installing a burglar alarm myself. HOw much will it cost me to install an alarm system and a motion sensor? When it's a motion sensor, a "thing" lights right? Sorry im not very familiar with these stuff. Will i get something like an alarm and something that lights when a burglar comes in? Oh, and where can i get these? Please help.. thanks!
I just bought one of those el-cheapo halogen lamps with a motion sensor. There were two models at the Handyman near us: a 175w for P700 and a 500w for P900.
At first I thought of buying the 175w models, electricity costs being what they are. Then it occurred to me that these will turn on only when needed, or when they are needed most, so 500w would be better. Besides the difference seems very reasonable.
Aside from this, earlier we installed a motion sensing alarm. This another el-cheapo but it seems to be fine. We've been using it for about 3 months now. These have two modes: chime and alarm. Power is either from a 9v battery or an adapter. When using an adapter, the unit can drive a external siren.

HI inakay,
Are those adaptors safe to leave switched on (to sockets) for days? Like those emergency lights where they're left with sockets plugged for charging..

hi everyone! i'm a new member of this forum and i find myself so lucky to have found this site.
anyway, this thread got my attention.
i have a couple of questions regarding home burglar alarm system.
1. just like jso427, is it safe to leave the plugs for days?
2. can motion alarms be triggered by a passing lizard or cockroach in front of it?
and lastly, i don't know if this is a known trick, but i've been thinking for a while that car alarms may also be used to call attention. you can instruct your wife & kids to push the "find(or whatever is its equivalent)" button whenever they are threatened at home (esp. at night). that way, the car outside (your car of course) will sound & hopefully it will call your neighbors' attention.
Serves me right for buying cheap. The security lights I mentioned BOTH died. Brand is NOVA - do not buy these.
As I mentioned I bought these lights a week or two ago. The first stopped working last week and the second shortly followed. Here is what I found inside:

The last image shows the trace that burned out (color brown). This connects the relay to the bulb. Obviously the trace could not handle the current. The case is the same for both lamps.
Now I have to DIY a small power supply and a better output stage. Hopefully, the sensor circuitry is still working.

thanks for the warning. by the way, you could have brought it back for replacement. however, you've opened it already so they might not honor the warranty anymore.
True except for some reason the receipt was not to be found >:(.
wow toasted.
if you can find a security light with a RAB brand that would be better.

Hi Lncc,
Thanks for introducing me to this site.
How come the PCB got burnt? The burnt trace was on the control side or the output side of the relay? Quite weird how these things get into the market.
You're most welcome Bro.
This was a few years ago so I honestly can't remember exactly. I think it had something to do with the circuitry's power being developed through a resistor/zener combo rather than a transformer. El cheapo!
The proper way to do direct off-the-line step-down is with a switching regulator, IMHO.
Now I have the best kind of alarm: a Rottweiler AND a Doberman.
