I got that side table from a stash of my father inlaw from his old old house (20 years ago lang)
it was in pretty good shape... So i decided that it was an easy restore.
A heavy dose of sanding. Then afterwards, seeing that the thing looked quite boring. I decided to give it some grooves using my Bosch gmr 1 (http://www.bosch.com.sg/content/language1/html/5529.htm) Its just a shame the colt version isnt available here (has a variable speed setting)
the last pics show the grooves i made to give more character.
After routing the grooves i decided to recoat it with polyurethane. The previous coat of polyurethane was at least 2-3 coats i think coz it hardly budged from sanding (using 240 grit paper on my black and decker orbital sander http://www.blackanddecker.com/ProductGuide/Product-Details.aspx?ProductID=14984)
It has alot of grime on top of the counter and legs (some weird rubbery stuff and some cement?? and i think some were epoxy) which i got rid of.
weeeeeeeeee
