Power tools: Dremel Mototools, Makita 3/8 drill, Black & Decker

Hand tools: Mechanical: Snap-On, Proto, Craftsman, all the way to low-end Gedore, Diamond and latest Makro stuff all made in China.
Electrical: Klien, Crescent, Proto, Snap-On, General all the way to the 'mickey mouse' stuff from China
Electronics: Fluke, Radio Shack, Weller, Hakko Solder stations

Unless you got a million bucks or a contract with some tool company, you can't stay with one brand, it just isn't possible specially here in the Philippines.

And like all the rest of us DIYers, I do have my suki/favourite tools, and some of them are unknown micky mouse brands too !! But i like and use just about all of them as needed.

Cheers ! :)

I personally bought and have been using Makita circular saw and a cordless drill. The rest of my tools are hands-me-down from relatives and friends which come in various brands, all are working to my satisfaction (Bosch, angle grinder / Skil, router and jigsaw)

Like Tom, I have different brands, all collected when a brand was put on sale, etc.

I have a pro Black and Decker 4" angle grinder which I gave to my bro-in-law, now have a Makita which I bought on sale in Hong Kong. I have a no-brand cordless, plus three corded: a BD 1/2 with hammer, and 2 3/8" VSR drills from Bosch and BD.

I have a Makita 5" circular and a 7 3/4 from Bosch, and a BD jigsaw.

My planer is a Ryobi, router is a Skil. I have an abrasive cutoff by Black and Decker, and a tile cutter by Dewalt.

The only tool that ever failed on me was a Skil sander which was destroyed by a carpenter who didn't know what he was doing.

I voted for Makita but none of my tools are :( ... can't afford them .. actually ... can't afford the price-for-value ratio.

For example, I used to drool over a Makita router. Now I have maybe 4 routers all of which that cost a lot less. Another example are my drills. The second drill cost P3500 (the 1st died) but about a year later I bought a 2nd hand drill press for the same amount.

I still drool over these namebrand tools but if you are on a limited budget you may want to save your money and maybe use it to build a boat :).

For me, I prefer Japan or US Made for my own use. But I am still buying China or Taiwan made tools. Kapag may nanghiram sa akin, hindi ko mapahindian, yung china made binibigay ko kahit, wala ng balikan. usually hindi ibinabalik ang hiniram na tools hanggat di mo kinukuha.

I have so many tools in my Garage... I am keeping already for several years. I will send the photos soon.
