hi,

icing problems is usually caused by dirty or clogged airways in ac so i decided to bring mine down and clean it.

i just brought down my aircon for cleaning and after a few weeks of used, i still got the icing problem in the evaporator... i am pretty sure everything was cleaned well...

during cleaning all parts that needs to be dry are sealed well...

in short everything was back to where it was...

any ideas?

i had an icing problem on my NEW aircon once

It was spot clean, hence it occured to me that the thermostat probe may not be interpreting ambient temp properly and i observed that it was 2 cm away from the fins. So I decided to have the thermostat touch the fins instead. Ever since then, it never iced.

This would only mean that my dang thermostat probe is defective (or uncalibrated)

if this is your problem, this solution may solve this

I have the EXACT opposite problem on my nursery aircon. It DOESNT get cold enough at first. So i placed the thermostat probe further away from the fins. Now it works just fine..

i may have gotten two A/C units with defective thermostats

Although for Spyghost, this may not be your case , since this is quite rare. But worth a try if you havent fixed the problem yet
