hi,

i just got this weird idea about ensuring doors are shut closed.

the kid's room needs to be shut always because of airconditioning. kids are so curious about things and i don't want the door knob suddenly locked or auto-locked. they do have someone with them in the room, but i still want to be sure.

so i just though of using a magnet on the door jamb and a metal on the door itself so that the door would remain shut without the worry of having a suddenly locked door.

i wouldn't want a spring or a door closer that would automatically force the door shut or would be too heavy to be opened.

problem here is, can you help me locate a store that would sell a bar magnet that is small enough but strong enough to keep a door shut?

Guys, the thing you need is commonly available for cabinet doors. Just put more of them for a room door. If really want real magnets, I think you can find them at Raon from those that supply speaker makers. Hard disk drives are also another source but it is rather difficult to get at the magnets I'm told. I like the cabinet thing most.

Bro, what do you mean by a "dummy" door knob? Do you mean one without an actual bolt to hold the door shut? How about one of those fancy handrail adornments, or maybe a big cabinet handle?
