most are 2" thick and some were 2 1/2" thick...
![]() ![]() I certainly hope that the yield would be 1 1/2" but 1 1/4" would be acceptable... so yes, my machines and powertools will get worked out soon... this would be my biggest build to date both in size and cost... pray for me...

Those sure look rough and needs to be milled sir Timb. So now you have some means to tune the makita planer, but say, how do you go about sharpening the planer knives again? From net prices, the makita sharpener 9820-2 is even more expensive than a jet thicknesser!

Nice project Timber. What kind of joinery are you planning to use?
Not only will your tools get a workout but your back will too! |

joining the top, nothing spectacular too, it is designed to be removable and will not be attached other than guides or stops to hold it in place... as for the back, buying and shipping the wood alone killed my back. each piece weighs no less than 30kls. |

Actually bro I am wondering how you will join planks together to make the necessary widths? Dowels? Biscuits? T&G? Also, IIRC you don't have a jointer yet so how are you going to get them square?
One thing I wish I had when manhandling such big pieces is a set of nice leather gloves. I saw some before at ACE in Rockwell but did not appreciate them enough then (P600). Now I don't get to go there and have yet to find something at par. |

will make do with the thicknesser for now, a jig would do the jointing for me, and a portable planner will speed up handplane work. not that process will make my arms grow like popeye

IMHO I think your router table would be a better solution but it will be interesting to hear how the jig goes.
